In short: OgreBill stores invoices, clients, expenses and settings in a local database on your iPhone. Some actions use external services: Apple processes in-app purchases, and a local-network sharing option can send a selected invoice PDF to another device. You can also export or share files using destinations you choose.
1. Data Storage
OgreBill stores all application data — including invoices, clients, services, expenses, taxes, and configuration — in a local database on your iPhone. The app does not use an account, analytics, advertising or crash-reporting service. App Store transactions, local-network invoice sharing, and destinations you choose for exports or backups involve the relevant platform or recipient.
Backups you create are saved in the OgreBill folder on your iPhone, which you can see in the Files app.
If you choose an export location, a copy is also written to that folder.
Backup files are standard local database (.db) files.
OgreBill does not add separate app-level encryption to exported or shared backup files,
so store backup copies only in locations you trust.
If you place that folder inside a cloud-synced directory (e.g., iCloud Drive
or another Files-compatible cloud folder), the synchronisation is handled entirely by your operating system
and is outside the scope of this app.
2. Permissions & Why We Need Them
| Permission | Purpose | Data Sent? |
|---|---|---|
| Photos / Gallery | Attach QR code images to payment profiles from your photo library. OgreBill reads only the image you pick. | No |
| Biometrics (Face ID / Touch ID) | Lock and unlock the app locally. Biometric data is processed by the OS and is never accessible to or stored by OgreBill. | No |
| File System | Save exports (PDF, CSV, Excel) and backups to the OgreBill folder in Files, or to a folder you select. | No |
| Local Network | When you choose QR invoice sharing, OgreBill temporarily serves that invoice PDF from your device to another device on the same Wi-Fi network or Personal Hotspot. The local link expires after 10 minutes or when the app moves to the background. | Only to the local recipient device you choose |
3. Data You Control
- Export your data at any time: CSV files from the invoice, client, service and expense lists, and a full Excel workbook from Settings → Data Safety.
- Create and restore local database backup files from Settings → Data Safety → Open Backup & Restore Center.
- Permanently delete all stored data from Settings → Data Safety → Delete All Data.
- Uninstalling the app removes all local data unless you have external backups.
3A. Data Retention
Your invoice and business data is stored locally on your device. OgreBill has a configurable retention period in business settings. When automatic cleanup is on, the app can anonymize or delete archived client records after that period has passed. Deleting invoices after the retention period is a separate option that is off by default; if you turn it on, eligible paid or cancelled invoices are permanently deleted and the app creates a backup first. You can change these settings, run the cleanup yourself, or delete all data at any time from Settings.
Note: The default retention period is a starting value, not advice. Record-keeping rules differ by country and business. Deleting data from OgreBill, automatically or manually, does not change any obligations you may have. Keep your own backups of records you need.
3B. Client Information
Client names, contact details, invoice data and other records you enter are stored in the app’s local database. You decide what information to enter, retain, export or share, and should handle client information according to the rules that apply to your business.
4. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
OgreBill offers optional premium features via subscriptions managed through the Apple App Store. When you subscribe:
- Payment is processed entirely by Apple — we never see or store your payment details (credit card number, billing address, etc.).
- Apple may share with us a transaction ID, purchase date, and subscription status — solely to unlock your premium features.
- We do not use any third-party subscription management service. Purchases are handled directly through the platform's native in-app purchase APIs.
The app does not include an analytics SDK, crash-reporting service or advertising framework. Apple’s store services still process purchase and entitlement activity.
4A. Optional Diagnostics Export
If you choose Export Diagnostics Logs in the app, OgreBill creates a report on your device for you to review and share. It can include your device and operating system details, business name, country and currency settings, record counts, recent backup activity, app error details and recent actions. Some error details may contain text or stack traces from the app.
The report is not sent automatically to Ogre Labs. Review it before sharing and remove information you do not want to disclose. If you send it to support, the information you include is received by Ogre Labs to investigate your request.
5. Third-Party Services
OgreBill does not include analytics or advertising services. Apple provides the App Store purchase flow. When you use local-network invoice sharing, save or share an export, create a backup in a synced folder, or send an email, the selected content is handled by the device, network, platform or recipient you choose. If you choose WhatsApp, OgreBill opens WhatsApp with a message addressed to your client’s phone number; WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy apply from there. App fonts are bundled in the app and are not downloaded.
6. Children's Privacy
OgreBill is a business invoicing tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Data Security
App records are stored locally, so protect your device and any files you export or back up. OgreBill provides an app-lock feature using your device's biometric authentication. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date.
Exported and shared backup files are not separately encrypted by OgreBill. Treat them like financial records and keep them in trusted device, cloud, or computer storage.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of OgreBill after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
