From walkthrough to reviewed report.
Use these steps as a starting point. Labels and available options can vary by platform and app version.
- Set up the appChoose a speech pack in the app if you want spoken transcription. A pack download requires an internet connection; the installed model is used on your device. Allow microphone access when you start a recording. You can add optional name or company details for your reports.
- Create a reportStart a report and choose a title or available template. The app shows current template and purchase options in context.
- Record as you walkDescribe what you observe. Add a marker or photo when you want to tie a detail to that moment. You can pause or resume the recording from the recording screen.
- Finish and reviewWhen you finish, OgreScribe processes the recording on your device and organizes the report. Speech recognition can make mistakes. Read each line, check names and measurements, listen to the source audio where available, and correct anything before sharing.
- Edit and exportEdit report text, add notes and review attached photos. Preview the export before you share or print it. The app indicates which export options require a purchase.
- Back up your workUse the backup control in settings and save the backup file to a location you control. To move reports to another device, install OgreScribe there and use its restore flow.
- Optional: use a sync folderSelect a folder through the app’s folder picker. The app writes report files there; a separate file-sync service may copy them to other devices. Folder contents are ordinary unencrypted files, so choose a location with access controls you trust. Read the privacy policy before enabling sync.
Recording tips
- Keep the phone close and speak clearly. Background noise can affect transcription.
- Review numbers, names and units carefully before sharing a report.
- Keep OgreScribe in the foreground while recording. Calls, interruptions or background restrictions can stop a recording; check the recording screen before continuing.
- If a transcription or export fails, reopen the report and use its available retry or export controls.
OgreScribe helps prepare a record of what you observed. It is not a certified inspection or compliance tool. You are responsible for reviewing each report and for having permission to record and share its contents.
