The OgreCam field guide

Make room for the unexpected.

Step-by-step help for camera looks, party plans, guest lists and the keepsakes you make. Pick a topic below, or return to quick support.

Start with the basics

Start here

Choose a camera look, take a photo, and find it in your local OgreVault. Start a party roll when you want a shared countdown and a little reveal at the end. Your captures stay in OgreCam until you choose to save or share them.

First launch: allow Camera access when iOS asks. OgreCam needs it to show the viewfinder and take a photo. If permission was denied, open Settings → Apps → OgreCam → Camera, enable it, then return to the app.

Browse by topic

Tap a card for the full walkthrough — steps, tips and the fine print, without scrolling through everything else.

Troubleshooting

The viewfinder is black

Confirm Camera permission under iOS Settings, close other apps using the camera, then reopen OgreCam. Camera capture requires a physical device.

A capture does not appear in OgreVault

Wait for the save indicator to finish, then reopen OgreVault. OgreCam saves a photo before reporting capture success. If the library reports an error, keep the app installed and contact support before clearing its data.

Save to Photos does not work

Allow the requested add-to-Photos permission and check available device storage. You can still share from OgreCam without saving another copy to Photos.

My purchase is not recognized

Check your network connection and Apple Account, then try Restore Purchases. If the product is still unavailable, contact Apple for billing questions and contact us with the non-sensitive error text for app help.

Contact support

Email support@ogrelabs.de. Include the device model, iOS version, app version and a short description of what you tapped and what happened. Never email passwords, verification codes, payment information or private photos.

CAMERA

Choose a camera look

Tap the look name or camera controls to choose a profile. Available looks and portrait backgrounds are shown in the app; some options require OgreCam Pro. You can also edit a saved photo later; the source photo is kept unchanged while you work on its look or background.

PARTY ROLL

Start now or plan ahead

  1. Open Party Roll and choose Start now or Plan ahead.
  2. Give the roll a title. Add a venue or city if you want it on your keepsake; this is text you type, not GPS data.
  3. Choose a roll length and set the party options you want.
  4. Start the roll and pass the phone around. The viewfinder offers a lighthearted prompt to help guests think of a shot.
  5. When the roll is complete, choose a keepsake and the photos you want to feature.

With OgreCam Pro, you can save a reusable setup, keep a local guest book, tag people in photos, add a host signature, remove the OgreCam mark from exports, and protect a roll's gallery with Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode. Optional scheduled-party reminders use iOS notifications. A planned roll can be started on its scheduled day; you can reuse its setup to start on another day.

Handing your phone to guests? Gallery protection locks access inside OgreCam. It cannot stop someone from leaving the app. To keep guests inside OgreCam, start Apple's Guided Access before passing over your device.

YOUR PEOPLE

Reuse a setup or guest list

Open the Saved tab in Party Roll to find planned parties and reusable setups. A setup can keep its title, optional place, photo limit, gallery setting and selected guests, ready for a future night. In the Guests tab, add a name and an optional note such as a nickname or group. These details are stored in OgreCam on your device.

If you enable Remind me for a scheduled party, allow notifications when iOS asks. You can still keep and start the plan if notifications are off; change notification access in Settings → Notifications → OgreCam.

OGREVAULT

  1. Open OgreVault to browse captures and any photos you imported.
  2. To import, choose photos with the iOS photo picker. With Pro, selected copies are added to OgreVault; OgreCam does not scan your whole Photos library.
  3. Tap Select to choose individual photos or use Select All. Use Clear All to reset the selection.
  4. Choose Save to Photos, Share or Delete. OgreCam asks you to confirm a batch deletion.

Saving creates a copy in Apple Photos. Sharing opens the iOS share sheet, where you select a destination. Deleting from OgreCam does not remove copies you already saved or sent elsewhere. A capture keeps its saved original alongside the processed OgreCam image; a photo's detail view offers the original when available.

Share sheet looks blank? Close it and try once more. If it is still blank, restart OgreCam and email us the iPhone or iPad model, iOS version, number of selected photos and whether the second attempt worked. Do not send the photos themselves.

KEEPSAKES

Make a receipt, collage, book or album

After a roll, open its keepsake editor and choose a format. A Party Receipt gathers the selected photos and party details in a film-style design; choose a paper color, then save, print or share it. A Story Collage makes a vertical still image for a quick share. A Party Book lets you arrange photos across pages, pair images and add captions. A Family Album can have custom covers and a short opening note. A Portfolio can include a title and an optional profile page with a name, role, bio and contact text. Your selections and text are used to create the artwork on your device.

You can bring selected photos from OgreVault or Apple Photos into a keepsake, choose favorites, add guest names or a signature, and adjust available colors and layout details. Some formats and customization options require Pro. Review an export before sharing: any name, caption, place or contact text you add may appear in that image or book.

OGRECAM PRO

Purchases, restore and cancellation

Purchase options, billing period and price are shown in the Pro screen and by Apple before you confirm a purchase. Apple manages billing and subscriptions through your Apple Account. Review Apple’s current cancellation terms in your account settings.

  • Choose Restore Purchases on the Pro screen if a previous purchase is missing. Use the Apple Account that made it.
  • Choose Manage Subscriptions on the Pro screen to review or cancel an Apple subscription.
  • Apple handles billing and purchase verification. OgreCam does not receive your payment-card details.
